LOOPOP SUPERBOOTH 2021 CONTEST RULES

CONTEST RULES:

0. THE LOOPOP SUPERBOOTH 2021 MEGA CONTEST IS OVER. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED!!

1. No purchase is necessary to enter or win! Nothing you buy will increase your chances of winning.

2. Submission deadline is October 24, 2021, one entry per person.

3. The point of this contest is to make music using the provided samples and to share how you did it (with project files or like Jakob did in the video). The only other instrument allowed is vocals if you like, but tracks don’t need to have vocals. No other samples, synths or instruments are allowed, though you can use autotune on your voice and, since someone asked, a vocoder is cool too as long as the modulator is vocals, or if you can get a plugin to sing for you that's ok as long as it's words in a language recognized by the UN...

4. No creating-your-own-synth-with-single-cycle/granular shenanigans…! It's like trying to say "LOVE" just with the letter "L" - opens up new opportunities but no longer the same thing - the point is to keep the soul of the instruments somewhat intact, but you can use effects (reverbs, delay, eq, filters, compressors, etc in your DAW/sampler of choice or free third-party plugins). Reversing the samples is OK because the character remains. The idea is to make music with the instruments and not something else otherwise this would just be a “make any song you like” contest. If you must for your creative process you can use paid plugins and hardware effects but please avoid if possible so others can recreate what you did. You won't lose "points" for using paid/hardware effects though - I’m not going to be quick to disqualify people that make an effort to put a track together. Pitching samples up or down up to an octave or two is fine, as well as pitch envelopes. Your content cannot infringe upon any third-party rights or be unlawful in any way. No covers, please. You must abide by youtube community guidelines (https://www.youtube.com/howyoutubeworks/policies/community-guidelines/). Update: Copyright infringement applies to vocals too: only use vocals you have rights to. And no sampling my channel, maybe for another competition in the future...

5. To submit a track, upload it to YouTube (you can make the video itself unlisted and it doesn’t matter how many subscribers you have) then link to your video/audio in a comment to my video announcing the contest. It's a good idea to refresh the page and see if your comment is there but your link might initially be blocked by YouTube - I’ll go over blocked links and approve them. It's best if you tag me in the description of your video too (@loopop), but not instead of posting a comment. Once I've seen your video I will comment on it that I saw it. Some of you are marking your video as "made for kids", which does not allow me to comment on your video - I don't think it's applicable to mark it as such for this competition - check out the guidelines here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9528076?hl=en. Make sure to leave a real email when you download the sample pack to get contest updates/notices.

6. In your comment to this video, or video description include "proof" that you only used the samples in my pack and which ones you used. Proof is preferably a DAW project file, hardware project (MPC, Maschine, Tracker, Digtakt, WaveState (loads the multi-samples beautifully!), Octratrack etc+) , or, if you're up for it, be like Jakob Haq in my video and create an explainer video walkthrough that talks about the most interesting things you did going through the different tracks. Hybrid hardware/software setups are also cool as long as you can "prove" you only used the samples with a video walkthrough. If you don’t want to share your project files publicly and don’t feel like making a walkthrough, please email a dropbox/mediafire link of them to me (my email in the description), so that if you win I can walk through the project in a video (I won’t share the actual project files if you don’t want me to). No large attachments, please!

7. If you prefer to compete for specific prizes, write their name in your comment in order of preference (this doesn’t guarantee winning something it, or anything else of course…). After the deadline is up, I’ll review the tracks and pick the best ones (in my opinion and after consulting with co-judges I may appoint) as finalists, then raffle the prizes between the finalists based on which prize/s they selected. “Best” or “Good” is subjective so please don’t be offended if I/we don’t pick you as a finalist. I like many genres so no need try to aim at the kind of music I make. If prizes are left unclaimed I’ll make a second round between the finalists that didn’t win the prize of preference. I hope people submit a lot of tracks for this contest, but if too many submit, there’s a limit to what I can listen to. I promise to listen to at least 300 tracks, picked randomly if more are submitted.

8. There’s no limit on genre or style, vocals or not. Let’s call a track no less than 1:30 minutes, it can be as long as you want but the main idea should come across in up to 3 minutes.

9. There needs to be a way to contact you - either on your YouTube profile or in the comment to this video. You can share contact info after you win (if you do), but you need to respond if I leave a comment on your submission within a month - don’t make us chase you or so help us we’ll give the prize to someone else!

10. You agree not to sue or complain to me or any of the companies donating prizes for anything including my bad taste in music - I’m running this contest in good faith to get people finishing music, learning from each other and hopefully winning some prizes. Companies aren’t paying me anything for including them in this contest, and they were kind enough to offer the prizes. There’s no appeals process, my decision is final.

11. Did you win? Congrats!!! Just remember it’s up to you to pay any taxes/import fees. Any and all prize related expenses, including without limitation any and all federal, state, and local taxes shall be the sole responsibility of the winner.

12. The contest is open to everyone worldwide but Maschine Plus and KeyStep Pro can only be sent out to Canada, US, UK or EU. If you win them and don’t live in those countries either find a friend who does or we can swap your prize for a software package from the respective company.

13. You must be 18+ years old at the time of entry.

14. You are not guaranteed to win a prize and your chance of winning is dependent on the total number of eligible entries received and their subjective quality in the eyes (ears) of the judge (me). No cash or other prize substitution is permitted except at my discretion. The prize is nontransferable. No substitution of prize or transfer/assignment of prize to others or request for the cash equivalent by winners is permitted.

15. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, or Google. You understand that you are providing your information to the owner of this contest and not to Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, or Google. You release Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, or Google from any liability related to this contest.

16. The rights to the track are yours, but by entering this contest you understand and agree that I will have the right to use your entry as part of video/s about this contest - royalty-free - and you agree not to file, and to remove any copyright strikes/claims filed by you or on your behalf on my content about this contest. You understand and agree that my videos about this may be monetized without paying you any royalties.

17. I reserve the right, in my sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this contest but I realize that would be totally uncool so I’ll do my best not to. I'll probably modify and tweak the rules, to help clarify things based on good questions people ask.

18. By entering the contest you agree to receive email newsletters periodically. You can opt-out of receiving this communication at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in the newsletter.

19. Limitation of Liability: By entering you agree to release and hold harmless me or any of the companies donating prizes from any liability. Information submitted with an entry is subject to the Privacy Policy stated on the loopopmusic.com. Competition is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited by law. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning. This Competition shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of the State of Israel without regard to its conflicts of laws provisions. By participating, entrants agree that any and all disputes arising out of or relating in any way to this Competition shall be litigated only in courts sitting in Tel Aviv, Israel.

20. You may use this sample pack in your music royalty-free, whether you submit a track to the contest or not, but you may not redistribute one or more of samples standalone or as part of a sample pack you create, as you shouldn't do to any sample pack you buy or get for free. If you want to re-package the sample pack for a particular instrument, let me know, I'd be happy to share it and give you credit but please don't distribute, give or sell these samples without my permission.

21. Done - woohoo!
